This is the view from a stone bridge of the River Dronne, which flows through Bourdeilles, a charming town in the southwest of France. Here in Kentucky we'd probably consider this no more than a healthy creek but it certainly takes a backseat to no body of water in terms of its beauty. The water was crystal clear the day I shot the photo on which this painting was done. The river flowed on both sides of house in the upper part of the painting, with the righthand channel having the faster moving water. The long strands of water grass swayed back and forth under the surface of the water, their iridescent greens making a mesmerizing visual rhythm. What a beautiful, tranquil place.
